MOUFLON SHEEP Ovis musimon

Origin: Corsica, Sardinia, Cyprus and many parts of Europe

The mouflon is thought to be one of the two ancestors for all modern sheep breeds.

Generally, one the males have horns, but some females may have small horns.

Mouflon sheep are found on the islands of Corsica, Sardinia and Cyprus. They have been introduced into many parts of Europe. The mouflon live in mountainous terrain, usually above the tree line or in mountain meadows.

They feed intermittently throughout the day, resting during the hottest hours.

The mouflon is a shy animal. They are extremely fast runners, and great jumpers.
